Syllabus

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 

This course is designed to introduce students to the field of psycholinguistics. The students in this course will expand his or her knowledge about how individuals comprehend, produce and acquire language.  They will synthesize and apply course content to teaching or other language-related work.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.Midterm exam   30%

2.Final exam      30%

3.Homework      30% ( 5% each)

4.Participation     10%  

 

Homework:

Answer one thought question at the end of six chapters of your choice.  The answer for each question is limited to one double-spaced typed page.  The homework is due at the beginning of next class after the chapter is finished.

 

For this class to be successful, everyone must contribute.  This includes preparing for class by attending class sessions, completing readings by the appropriate date and actively participating in class discussions.  Participation is important enough to the class that it will count as part of your final grade.  Each student will be given up to 10% points depending on their contributions to class.  There will be “surprise” in-class assignments or quizzes that will measure participation.
